About us

Welcome

I’m Garrett C. Higley and I am the founder of

Fulcrum Coaching & Consulting.

I am your Pivot Coach.

Who am I?

A little about me…

Steve Jobs said that “You cannot connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect the dots looking backwards.”  The process requires trusting that the dots will somehow connect in your future…this requires faith and purpose. Most of our setbacks are just wake up calls that open our eyes to perspectives we have been ignoring.  Those small failures are precious lessons from the universe to use as steppingstones instead of barriers.  We often don’t realize the path we are on until we look back and see the dots reassuring us, we have been on the right path all along. I don’t believe anything better typifies my story and how I came to coaching and the practice of law.

I graduated law school in 2004 and began practicing family law shortly thereafter and have maintained that practice for almost 20 years now.  I love the practice of family law, in particular helping people navigate challenging periods in their lives to find relief and recognize their potential for a bright and fulfilling future.  My tag line has always been helping people to redefine their families.  And I firmly believe this is what I do.  By allowing individuals to recognize their own potential within themselves by providing sound legal advice and supporting them to see the dots that got them to a place of a new beginning. In my practice I am a zealous advocate for my clients, but I also empowering them with the freedom and internal fortitude to see the end of a family law case not as an ending, but a limitless future.

It was through this desire to be of service in an even more robust way, along with my long personal history in recovery, I rebalanced my career in 2017 to expand my professional life by entering the behavioral health field, particularly working with people with mental health issues and substance use disorder.  While I maintain my family law practice, I have worked tirelessly to build a successful history in the recovery field.  This rebalancing has not only made me a talented coach and recovery professional, but it has improved my skill as a family law exponentially.

Through my work in the recovery field, I developed a robust skill set as reflected in my Fulcrum Coaching & Consulting webpage.  I also honed and narrowed my focus as a coach.  I discovered that my overarching passion, irrespective of discipline, is to be an agent for positive change.  This is how I came to be a pivot coach.

I believe in whole-system coaching.  This involves components of internal family systems work and core energy coaching, along with years of experience.  My coaching style is designed to create lasting and fundamental shifts in how you view yourself and your circumstances in order to achieve sustainable, revealing, and life-changing outcomes.  It is through removing blocks, aligning your parts, and capitalizing on your innate potential that the world begins to unfold right before your eyes.

Having lived a life in which I have personally been confronted on many occasions with challenges that have invariably turned into opportunities, and extensive experience and training in coaching, I bring a special perspective to coaching and my law practice.  I can hold space for others’ “darkness” without judgement and turn it into light and strength.  I don’t see mistakes, I see doorways.  My capacity to implement the art of coaching by being completely present with a client, invested in their outcome without imposing any agenda, and helping to uncover their talent through provocative and inciteful questions, observations, and collaboration sets me apart.  I help people clarify what they really want and then live fully into it. I have been trained my entire career to listen and ask the right questions at the right and in the right way to help you achieve success.

Empower Your Recovery with Fulcrum Coaching

The essence of coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client to support the individual in reaching a deeper understanding of who they are, what they can achieve, and who they can become.  We are complex beings, full of power and potential but often unaware of our inherent gifts and our tremendous capacity to make our visions become reality.  Through the coaching process, we uncover that power and reveal the client’s inner resources so they can achieve theirwildest dreams.  Does this seem like a bold proposition?  It is,but it is absolutely true.  Every individual on the face of this planet is a well-spring of talent unique to them.

Coaching is an art form, empowering the client to tap into that well-spring so that the client can shower their lives and supercharge their ambitions with the natural resources held inside.  The essence of coaching isn’t about providing a client with a magical solution, it is about helping them find the magicwithin themselves.  I love watching my client’s energy shift and recognize they are the heroes of their own story.
